I have spent my life at thresholds. Canadian-born to Welsh heritage, raised in the UK (mostly Ynys Môn) from ages one to twenty-nine, Brighton-trained in Fashion Textiles, a decade in London, nearly a decade in Canada — and then finally landed in South Africa where I visited for the first time in 2001 and my heart never left. It took until 2017 to make it permanent, but some knowings take time to land.
The instruction that followed me across every threshold, every country, every beginning, was always the same: know thyself. It arrived in different forms — in books, in moments of crisis, in the quiet after everything fell apart — but it never stopped coming. I did not choose to take it seriously. I simply could not ignore it.
I came to esoteric systems not as an intellectual interest but as a survival tool. Human Design, Gene Keys, astrology, numerology — I used them all to understand why I was built the way I was, why I worked differently, why the things that were supposed to be easy were hard and the things that were supposed to be impossible came naturally.
The wound and the gift live at the same address. But you cannot see that from inside one system. You need to see it reflected back from twelve. From eighteen.
What I discovered is that the pattern is always there. The thing that has cost you most is usually the exact location of your greatest offering. Soul & Symbol is the reading I needed and could not find. So I built it — rigorously researched, deeply synthesised, and written to reach the part of you that has always known there was a larger map, but has not yet seen it drawn.
